Bring Back the Schmitter!

Okay, so after taking a day off to regroup and lay out a plan, I'm back. And I have some excellent news to report! On Wednesday, I wrote an email to a somewhat popular Mets blog called "Always Amazin'" asking if its proprietor knew anything about The Schmitter. Anywho.....it was posted! And from what I understand, we're not alone, people, as they've been flooded with frustrated--and hungry--Mets fans!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog, "Bring Back the Schmitter!" First things first, I'd like to lay out two truisms that relate to this blog's eponymous purpose:

• The food at Shea Stadium, home of the New York Mets, is downright awful, and has always been awful.
  

• The Schmitter is an extremely delicious cheesesteak-style sandwich made by a pub in Philadelphia called McNally's. It is a registered trademark of H&J McNallys Tavern Inc.

These facts are seemingly unrelated, however they are not. On more than one occasion, The Schmitter was served inside Shea stadium. Most recently during a four-game homestand with the Phillies last June. I can attest to these facts, as I ate three (3) Schmitters. Sadly, this was the last I saw, or tasted, of this marvelous creation. A subsequent phone conversation between my brother and a McNally's staffer revealed the beloved sandwich kiosk was merely a test run, but there were plans to "bring [The Schmitter] everywhere."
